UDEA can provide the following supportive items to PROJECT for the development of wireless needs.

i. Support for Literature Search/Technical Specifications and Preparation of Master Draft. Although there are a variety of solution alternatives in wireless technologies, there is no definite standard in most of applications. Preparation of a technical library and knowledgebase would not only be helpful but also assist to prepare a Master Draft which should ideally contain possible developments in technology in five years horizon. The Master Draft should also contain draft technical specifications for every sub-block of the system, e.g. sensors, gateways-master controllers etc.

ii. Support for Preparation of Project Plans. It can be safely assumed that there will be many changes during the system design. However, a carefully scheduled and well defined master project plan which shows the different phases of the sub-projects and a project plan which shows the tasks and responsibilities in sub-projects would be very helpful to be able to achieve fast and successful results in such an R&D project.

iii. Simulation Support. Before putting final protocol stacks into deployable devices it usually becomes necessary to simulate different layers of the protocol. Even better is a full simulation of the final wireless network under different conditions with all devices, e.g. gateway, access points, nodes, included. UDEA can provide support in simulation of different system and protocol architectures.

iv. Protocol Development Support. Since there may not be definite standard at the moment it is more likely that it will be a proprietary protocol. There might be several advantages or disadvantages of having a proprietary protocol but most of the disadvantages can be used as an advantage if the protocol can be open in terms of compatibility to existing standards. UDEA can provide support in development of such a protocol or set of physical, data link, network or up layer protocols.

v. Supply of Hardware/RF Receiver/Transmitter/Transceiver Module. UDEA currently provides an extensive portfolio of RF receiver, transmitter and transceiver modules operating in 315/418/433MHz, 868/915MHz and 2.4GHz ISM bands. However, depending on the requirements all of these RF modules can be modified in either technical specifications or in physical size/dimensions. It is also possible to design and produce specific demo/evaluation boards depending on the specific requirements.

vi. Supply of Firmware/Software. Some of the RF modules especially high end/high performance ones contain an embedded processor and associated firmware which is responsible for the execution of radio related processes. UDEA can provide this firmware and related software for different requirements or specifications and depending on the requirements can design and code a new firmware and development software.

vii. Support for Test/Evaluation. After simulation and design, the prototype network should be tested in terms of different performance criteria like Quality of Service, QoS, BER/FER Metrics, battery life etc. UDEA can design and produce necessary performance measurement tools (hardware and software) and help in necessary benchmarking.
